If you are not using social media, I am sure they are….  Do you know there are over 5 million users on FB alone. Over half of those are on FB daily?   You need to begin with a personal profile and then add a business page (like/fan page) in order to have the privilege of advertising your business.  One of fb policies is the fact you are not selling or promoting a business on your regular profile.  Once you have built a business page and they like you, it gives you the opportunity to share anything you chose to with your fans.  By becoming a fan they have said, yes I want to know anything you are willing to share.   Remember you want to give value and great information or you will lose that fan.  GIVE-GIVE-GIVE back to the community so you build a solid reputation of Good Service.   Then you will want to have a landing page that let’s them know they have truly stopped by a business page.  This is what this see when they come to your site to be a fan if it doesn’t have a customized landing page…

This is what they come to and WONDER is this a business page or not….

We learned about Social Media from Thumper

We learned Everything about Social Media from Thumper

We learned Everything about Social Media from Thumper

When using Social Media keep in mind what we learned from Thumper in Bambi many years ago…… If you can’t say thumpin good don’t say nuffin at all….

When making a post may I suggest you:

Give a compliment, Recommend someone or something, copy a quote, share a great article, post a great site, share a Fan Page.  Give back to the community.  Don’t use it for a gripe session or to get back at someone.   Remember you might be right but you might still be wrong… Wrong because you could lose business if you are negative or complaining about another businesses.  I love facebook in the fact you can find so many you have lost contact with…  Attended a funeral today and one of the grandsons just located his grandfather (who passed away) through facebook..  He is now connected to his entire family and it is happy reunion…

The old statement sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me is the most inaccurate statement ever made.   Negative things being said about you personally can affect your self esteem, and if in business it can actually destroy a business.

Be Kind as Thumper was and share thumpin nice about someone or some company.. You will be glad you did!

Social Media Relationships Make you Smile

Social Media Builds Relationships
What is Social Media other than building relationships… Those Relationships may be used to:
  • · Keep in touch
  • · Stay in front of customers/clients
  • · Sell a products/service
  • · Create a buzz around something new
  • · Endorse a person/product
  • · Give an opinion
  • · Share something personal
Whatever you use Social Media relationships for… make sure it brings a smile..
When making any kind of comment just remember it is ETERNAL. If you are angry the best thing you can do for YOURSELF is to calm down and then make that post… It’s the old Golden Rule “ Do Unto Others as you would have them do unto you” If not it can come back to bite…  See what happened to a Teacher..

Teacher fired over Facebook

The best advice we learned as children from “Thumper” on Bambi… If you can’t say something Good don’t say anything at all…

Are you LOST on LinkedIN?

www.KarenTHEConnector.com LinkedIN

The above link is a short video with just an excerpt from the class on Lost in LinkedIN.

Tips on your profile on LinkedIN….

It is extremely important if you are in business or if you are a professional you have a profile on LinkedIN.   Don’t just have one but complete it 100%.  This is your ONLINE reputation..  Make sure everything you say is factual.  DO NOT embellish the truth.

A Good Avatar is a photo of YOU… (not your dog, not a flower, not a city, not your family) that represents your face.  This is your first opportunity to have them know, like and trust you.  Eye Contact.  Doesn’t have to be professional but a solid background and eye to eye…

Good Avatar for Social Media sites

Bad Avatar for Social Media Sites

This is a BAD Avatar as you have decreased the size of the EYE contact.

Recommendations: you have a right to ask for if you have offered good service or a good product.   Most are more than willing to give them, you just need to ask.   Even better source is a Video Testimonial.  Can you imagine the credibility when your client tells how great you are and they see the excitement or they hear the emotion in their voice..

Here are a couple of my recommendations on LinkedIN.  Let them be real…

Jeannie Braun

, Executive Director, Fenton Area Chamber of Commerce (business partner)
was with another company when working with you

“Karen is the “GO TO” person for all of your Social Media questions and concerns. Karen stays informed and updated on all changes and upgrades regarding Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Karen’s pleasant and engaging personality creates a positive learning experience for anyone wishing to learn and use this fairly new technology in their workplace.” July 16, 2010

Angela Reynolds

(client)
Angela hired you as a LinkedIn Media Coach in 2010

Top qualities: Personable, Expert, Good Value

“Karen came into the Metro South BNI meeting and worked with the entire group on how to successfully use LinkedIn. She was very patient and spoke in a language everyone understood. She was very informative. The entire group enjoyed the training and several are going to hire her to train their sales force on the effective use of LinkedIn. If you are not using LinkedIn due to lack of knowledge I highly recommend Karen.” July 23, 2010

Hope I gave you some food for thought on LinkeIN…  find me www.linkedin.com/in/karenlfox

What is Social Media?

I love how a friend Rev Pat Powers described Social Media… She said it was like being at an event and you only get to speak to a few people yet you really want to know what is going on in all the conversations.   That was profound!

Let’s separate the words.. Social (means being friendly, getting to know others, building relationships)  Media  (means getting the word or information out to those that could use or need it…)

What is your favorite form of social media?
