Do we really live in a world where common courtesy had died?  I was taught to treat others as you would want to be treated.  Hurry along so you didn’t keep others waiting.   Be On Time and if not be sure to let them know.  Never use people.  If you can’t say something good don’t say anything at all.  If someone does something for you say Thank You.   If you can help, jump up and do it.  Respect your elders.

Were you taught like this growing up as well?

Here LiesCommon Courtesy (1)This was really brought home the other day when I went into a public restroom and someone about run over me coming out.  I said I’m sorry out of concern.  They glared at me like I was in their way.   Then I held the door open for some people much younger than myself as they walked through like it was my job to stand there and hold the door for them.  While in the parking lot a lady instead of walking 2 parking spots over and put her cart away pushed her cart and left it between hers and my vehicle.    This was all in a short amount of time.  That was in our day to day life on just one day. Imagine if we looked at a week, month or year.

Now let’s talk about on Social Media where common courtesy is dead.

  • How about the person who tags you in all their posts they are selling or promoting things or events?
  • People who use your influence and friend base to get their information out.
  • How about the person who scrapes your friend list before they start advertising for a business?
  • The angry customer who posts on your page instead of giving you an opportunity to correct it before blasting it to the world. Messenger makes it easy to contact a business.
  • When a friend is talking about their great business and someone else in the same business puts their link on the post.
  • Stealing photos and removing their logo or information that sends them back to the original post.
  • Putting down other products or service to try to make theirs look better

Let’s all make a positive influence and bring back common courtesy.
