Social Media Tip

LinkedIn is the perfect place to discover more about the people you want to meet or connect with.

We all know you can’t judge a book by its cover. But the fact is that if a cover isn’t inviting, people aren’t going to open that book up to read what’s inside. Make sure you use a professional head shot.  Head and shoulder only, as that is the first place they start to know, like and trust you.  They must be able to see your eyes in order to connect with you.   No group shots, children or pets. This is a business only social platform.  Make sure your photo is crisp and in focus.

  • Dress appropriately for your role
  • Use Solid background or minimal pattern
  • Smile with eyes your eyes to appear approachable and confident
  • Making eye contact with the camera
  • Wearing minimal jewelry or anything that steals the attention

The best size photo is 400px x 400px

The most critical area to complete and optimized is your Headline.

You are limited to 120-character count.  This is your most valuable real estate.  Use it wisely.   No offense, but no one cares if you are the owner. Speak Directly to the Audience You Want to Entice.  The viewer wants to know what’s in it for them to connect with you.   The additional thing to accomplish with the headline is making it searchable using your key words or phrases people are searching for on LinkedIn.

Examples:

Searchable: Transformational Coach working with 100s | Reduce & Manage Stress | Master your Habits | Mindset | Health & Wellness

Creative: Copywriter who knows how to craft web content that goes viral. Oh, and you’ll never beat me at Scrabble.

So What: ( here is what I do… so what makes me different)
