If you talk to anyone today and you will realize a lack of Focus is affecting all parts of our life.  We can’t just blame students as this is a problem for adults as well.

Focus Makes for Better Productivity

We are overload with busyness. Go here, drop off there, pick up here…  Our plates are all over filled.  We are not always being productive but being busy.  You would think with all our tools we would be able to get more done in less time yes, we are stressed and overwhelmed.   The term time management does hold the same value it uses to.  Today is says you just aren’t getting it all done.  Leaving us feeling less productive.

We are left to believe we should be multitasking every moment of the day or we are just not getting the most out of our day.   Yet statistics shows us you are less productive when you try to multitask.   It is a proven fact when you focus on one task at a time you will accomplish it faster and more accurate than “multitasking”.

Let’s talk about way we can increase our focus.

Getting enough sleep is the first place to start to become more productive.   When you have enough sleep, it allows your brain to totally focus and not be in a brain fog.  Enough sleep will allow a better focus personally and professionally.

Focus and high productivity eases stress to your body and mind.   There are so many other distractions today that make it hard to stay focused.  You have little dings popping up on your computer letting you know you have an email, your phone keeps going off that you have a new text or social ding, tv or radio competing for your attention.    I highly suggest turning off the notifications on your computer to be more productive.

The Productivity Coach taught me to plan my day by time blocking and color coding my calendar.   In other words, by time blocking (don’t block too close and there are always things that come up out of your control) allows you to see at a glance what you have you need to accomplish.  The second step is to color code it.  I personally found out I was attending too many networking events making it hard to focus and get all my work done.

Another trick for focus I learned from the Productivity Expert was to do a Brain Dump.

Put EVERYTHING you need to accomplish down on paper.  As little as what you need to pick up at Walmart to the largest item you need to accomplish.  This helps get it off your mind and on to paper.  Easier to separate into categories on paper that you mind can not do making you feel overwhelmed.

Wishing you greater focus and productivity.
